Horse Running Free
Horses are beautiful, loyal companions with  excellent memories that have long been a draw for young girls. Representing freedom, inspiring confidence, loyalty and kindness, horses also are often found depicted in paintings.

Pastels have been a favorite medium of many well-known artists, including Degas and Renoir—and with good reason! Pastels allow you to layer and blend vibrant colors to create a soft look.

Deb will lead you to create shape, form and movement with pastels. Since women outnumber men as horse owners, it is likely there are some DASF artists who have enjoyed owning a horse in their past. But whether you were fortunate to have a horse of your own or not, the grace of a flowing mane is certainly a sight to see! You will enjoy learning with Deb as she helps students create this beautiful horse.

July PHOTO Gallery
Deb Foley presented a fun program with supplies galore! Painters had a variety of pastel colors and other tools that allowed everyone to play as they learned to use pastels …many of us first time users. And we all went home with a completed horse – a bit of a surprise for those who came thinking there was no way they could paint a horse! The number of packets ordered by those unable to attend set some kind of record.
Good job! Deb. We look forward to what you will have in store for us in 2026…
Thank you.
