Memory Box Project
The Memory Box Project is a community outreach program of the Dedicated Artists of Southwest Florida. Member artists provide families with a painted box in which remembrances can be placed of their child lost due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. Each year in the US approximately 40,000 infants are stillborn. Each painted box represents sympathy and love flowing from our brush strokes to the families. The need is great. The recipients of the Memory Boxes appreciate the acknowledgement of their child’s brief life.
Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Health Park, Gulf Coast, Shands in Gainsville, Medical Center in Gainsville, and Northside in Atlanta are hospitals that request these boxes. In 2010 over 150 boxes were delivered. In 2011 we have doubled that number supplying 300 boxes to hospitals in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Please return to view memory boxes as the slideshow will change from time to time or, better yet, stop by when you are looking for inspiration for the box you are going to paint.
