Suitcase Project
The Suitcase Project started in February 2005 when our first donated suitcases were painted and donated to the Foster Children in SW Florida. This soon became another community outreach program for which our chapter members can contribute their talents to benefit children in our area. Our members take gently used or new suitcases and paint them with designs for baby to teenage. These suitcases are then donated to agencies that have Foster Children so that these children will be able to have a place to put their belongings that were once carried in plastic garbage bags. We strongly believe all children should be able to live with dignity even as they move from foster home to foster home.
Word of the project has spread and DASF has currently been requested to paint sutcases for abused women.
SPECIAL DAY…
DASF volunteers gathered for a group SUITCASE Paint-In on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Watch announcements for the next paint-in, make friends, learn how to paint on suitcases and help the Foster Kids by creating suitcases they can call their own as they move with their belongings to a new foster family. We would love to have you join the group!
