Judy MACLAREN
Judith MacLaren started her love of art at a very young age… On Friday evenings “after the dishes were done” her father would pop popcorn on the stove and she, along with her two siblings, would sit at the kitchen table and draw. Designing and making clothes out of paper for her paper dolls was so much fun!!
One thing led to another and the love of creating a work of art using any medium that was handy including paint, charcoal, colored pencil, and more kept her busy!!
Art was an integral part of her life. By the time she graduated from Brockton High School in Massachusetts she was art editor for the high school yearbook, created cartoon illustrations throughout the book, and also designed the yearbook cover.
Judy, attending Boston Art, was certified in FAUX finishing and has enhanced walls from “sea to shining sea” …Massachusetts to California. If she saw a white or plain wall and heard it crying out “paint me special “ she could visualize what that wall needed! The Ft Myers Beach Library had a plain curved wall that needed a window, so she painted one of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico (she wondered why the architect didn’t put a window there!), and as one descends the stairs in the old section of the Fort Myers Beach Library there is a “window” painted on the wall! She also loves painting furniture and floor cloths.
Judy has studied with many well known artist and teachers here in the USA and in Europe. She received her certification in oils and is also certified in watercolor but paints in acrylics as well. Asked what her favorite medium is, Judy always says … “It depends what kind of brush is in my hand at that time !”
Where Judy Teaches
Judy works in many media but has taught acrylic and watercolor classes from Cape Coral to Naples here in Florida and also in Massachusetts. Her love of painting and teaching others to enjoy it gives her much pleasure.
After Covid put a damper on her teaching, she presently teaches on Zoom. Classes include…
