Judy did a great job instructing members on just how easy watercolors can be as we created the beautiful Queen of the Night. This cactus has large blooms that display only after the sun sets. We learned that black backgrounds are not truly black and lifted some of that inky dark color to reveal the green petal like structures seen in background. Most interesting! Thank you, Judy.

Queen of the Night…
“Queen-of-the-Night” is a great name for the night blooming cereus cactus with its stunning floral display seen on thick triangular stems.
What is most amazing is that this plant, reported to bloom in June, blooms over and over again throughout the Florida summer adding fragrance to the air and a profusion of blossoms like a nighttime bouquet! Each bud opens just after the sun sets and the show is usually over by midnight. To enjoy you will need to time your viewing during that short window… Grow your own cactus or even easier – paint with Judy. It will be fun and you can view your own Queen of the Night any time of day you want! The lesson will focus on brush control. You will have the POWER OF THE BRUSH!
