Featured Artist – Cathy CROCK

Cathy Hope Crock grew up with the smell of turpentine and linseed oil in the air—her earliest memories shaped by an amateur-artist father who kept an easel ready at the end of each workday. Encouraged from childhood to draw, sketch, and paint, she pursued formal training at Georgia State University and continued study with notable artists including Deborah Ankrom Kepes, Leslie Marks, Nancy Honea, and Tom Nash.

For 18 years Cathy worked as a stained-glass designer before turning to her love of portraiture. She has studied with accomplished portrait artists and is an active member of the Portrait Society of America and the American Society of Portrait Artists. Known for her wonderful drawings and paintings of people and animals, Cathy describes her talent as a God-given gift she has refined through disciplined study, practice, and hard work.

Beyond her studio, Cathy has contributed to the local arts community through leadership and advocacy. As president of Kudzu Art Zone, a nonprofit visual-arts organization in Historic Norcross, Georgia, she helped expand access to grants, workshops, and professional development for painters and sculptors.

Cathy has been married to her husband Joe for more than three decades; they have two sons. Joe has long been her champion and an avid supporter of her artistic life.
