Featured Artist – Beth WAGNER

With a lifelong love of art and design and formal education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Beth worked for 25 years as a staff fashion illustrator.

A shift in focus came as she began giving lessons in stores like Creativity and Michaels. Then came lessons in her home studio and creating original designs. With an eye to business, she owned a mural and furniture painting business specializing in residential and commercial work.  Beth has been published in magazines, online and has books in print, too. She teaches locally and at conventions. International cruising has enabled Beth to combine her lifelong passions for art and travel as she teaches painting to the passengers.

Beth compares her painting to the style of Ros Stallcup as she likes that loose, painterly style. To paint with too much structure is to lose creativity. Beth achieves that loose style with a wet palette and a wet brush and to those artists trying to loosen up she suggests using a brush slightly larger than what you can control! When asked about her favorites, Beth loves painting containers and doing collages. If a good teacher makes art fun, then Beth is sure a good teacher!
