click here if you want to contact Karen with any questions

This handy Clay Pot Garlic Keeper was designed by Sue Beckerton. You will need a 5-inch terracotta pot, a 5-inch terracotta pot saucer, and a wooden knob 1-1/2 inches wide with a 1-inch screw and washer to fit the knob.

PREPARATION:
Do NOT seal this clay pot as it would affect the ability of your piece to act as a garlic keeper.

DO gently sand rough spots on your terracotta pot & saucer. Basecoat the pot, the saucer, and the knob in Camel. Allow to dry thoroughly. Use bubble wrap to safely transport your pot and saucer to class.

DRAGONFLY FLOWER POT
                                               …with Jackie Marth

This adorable DragonFly Flower Pot was designed by Jackie. The clay pot surface pictured here is 6-inches tall and 8-inches wide at the top but you can easily adapt the design to any size pot, large or small.

PREPARATION:
Please have your flower pot sealed and basecoated prior to the meeting. Jackie uses an Acrylic Sealer such as the Multi-Purpose Sealer made by DecoArt. You can also use a polyurethane or shellac inside and out so paint will not bubble up and peel off when moisture gets under it.

When sealer is dry, base coat the lower pot with a medium to light value purple. Use a darker value purple to shade around the bottom of the pot and under the rim. Basecoat the rim and inner rim of the flowerpot with a medium aqua color.

These were the colors Jackie used for her flowerpot. You may use any colors you wish for yours. Just remember that you will be painting four different colored dragonflies and each one will require a medium value color, a darker shading color, and a highlighting color.
