Chinoiserie …with Judith MacLaren
EAST meets WEST you might say…
The word Chinoiserie refers to “in the China manner” art style that became popular in the 17th century. Enjoy a wonderful creative day learning how to paint our version of the ancient art of CHINOISERIE. There are many ways of depicting ancient culture and we are going to create architecture and landscapes in this workshop.This mini-seminar is one of the Lunch-and-Brush Seminars that have become so popular with our decorative artists. Come learn a new skill painting with a great teacher from 9am till noon.

The painting class is restricted to just 10-students so you will get plenty of attention. Lunch on your own follows the painting session with the teacher and group gathering at the Wheel House to enjoy ordering from the menu. What a great opportunity to renew friendships or make new painting friends.

Cost: $10 DASF or NDA members / $20 non-members

- Cigar Box Surface – available from Judith for $10
- Other Surface – other style small wood boxes are available at Michael’s, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, etc. Something about 6-inches or so is recommended (will need to be basecoated prior to seminar)
- Basecoat – Choose a dark color to basecoat such as black, red, deep blue, or deep green
Palette:
- Instruction packet / photos / palette …all supplies included in $10 fee
Bushes:
- A ‘GOOD’ liner
- Flat
- Round
- Filbert
- A variety of your favorite brushes
Supplies:
- Usual painting supplies
- White transfer paper (required)
- Red pen (to trace design)
