Goldie…
Graceful and colorful, the goldfish, particularly Koi, have been used as a symbol of good luck and good fortune. Ancient stories and fairy tales also include stories of goldfish granting wishes or making dreams come true.
Painters will certainly get their wish for a beautiful painting as Kathy leads us in painting this canvas. Welcome Kathy as a first time teacher for DASF. We are lucky to have her share her talents with us!

DASF awarded the 2024 Scholarship to a very talented Cypress Lake HS senior with plans to attend the internationally acclaimed Art Institute of Chicago. He was introduced to the members and received the oversized check, a memento of the real check being sent directly to the financial office at his college. Read about Zachary here.
Painters loved the bright colored butterfly KOI with flowing fins layered on a repetitive background with no ‘wrong’ place to scrub on the light highlights and the dark depressions that gave our rocks character and individuality. Thanks, Kathy, for a great class. Kathy has been painting for 25-years and made everything easy for us learners.
May is Older Americans Month and DASF emphasized our mission to build social networks by sitting with someone we didn’t know very well. It gave us all a chance to build networks and fight the isolation that imperils health according to the U.S. Surgeon General.
Snowbirds have left and this slow season is an ideal time to invite your guests! We know how to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
